Lombok. Forest People
1 000 years Economy. The Little Poucet. Hop-o'-My-Thumb.
You should go to Lombok! Amazing place. Not same like Bali. 1
000 times better! People are more smiling. More Friendly :)))
Don’t go to Gili. Too crowded! Too many tourists. Go to Sengigi.
There are the Hills. Between coast and Ringani volcano. Hills not too big. 500
meters high. Covered with forest. The whole area is only 20 km large. But not
roads. Only Hills covered by Tropical Forest
.
.
And there. There are the Forest People. Living there. Not in the villages. In
separated huts. Small houses. Spread all over the area. Connected by the
labyrinth of paths. Dense net of walking trails. No cars. No motorcycles. To
stiff. Only walking People. Forest People. Walking Every day. The whole day. Doing exactly the same thing.
Walking in the forest. Start early in the morning. Then going down. To the
Coast. Carrying the Fruits of the Forests. Fruits. Vegetables. Wood… Going
down. Down to the Fisher’s villages on the Coast. Every day. For at least ...last 1000 years.
The Fishers also start their days early. Going to the Sea. Bringing
back The Sea Food. Doing exactly
the same thing. Fishing. Every Day. For at least ...last 1000 years.
There are the Markets in every Coast Fisher’s Village. Every morning. The Forest People came down to the Markets. They
exchange their Forest Fruits against Sea Food. Then they bring it back to the
Forest. To their Families. Waiting there for them. Every Day. For at least ...last 1000 years.
Anything new? Yes! The Mobile phones! No electricity in the
Forest Hills. Forest People take their
mobiles down for charging the batteries during the market time.
Is the Forest People / Fishers Economy connected with New
York Stock Exchange? Vulnerable to any International Economic Crise? Not! Not at all !!! No impact! They don't even use the local Indonesian
money! No need. They know the value of their Products. Always the same exchange
rate. Forest Fruits against Sea Food. Same Every Day. For at least ...last 1000 years.
When I go to Lombok. I love wandering in the Sengigi Forest Hills.
With my bicycle. The Perfect place for mountain biking. First time I was lost. Immediately.
Too many paths. To dense. Too stiff. No way to find out which trail is good and
which one will shortly finish by dead end!
And then I remembered the tale of The Little Poucet.
Hop-o'-My-Thumb. The Little Poucet was saving his life in the wood by spreading
the small river stones to mark a trail and back home.
I didn't have the river stones. But the Forest People did. They
are always eating. Candy. The sweet candy.
Wrapped in the pieces of paper. And they left these small papers on the
trail. All I needed to do ...was just follow these papers.
No papers on the path. Not good. Trail will finish in few
hundred meters. Danger!
Papers on the path? OK! Go Ahead! No Danger! Forest People
were there! Walking on this trail. Every Day. For at least ...last 1000 years.
