Gereja Ayam (Chicken Church), Magelang, Central Java.
Hidden deep inside the Indonesian jungle lies an enchanted 'church' which looks like a giant chicken.
Gereja Ayam opened its doors (or spread its wings) by the 1990s. The church welcomed any religions including Buddhists, Muslims, and Christians.
It was made by an eccentric creator - Daniel Alamsjah, who suddenly got a divine message from God to build a 'prayer house' in the form of a dove.
'Perhaps because of my Christian faith, people thought I was building a church. But it’s not a church. I was building a prayer house... a place for people who believe in God.’
Unfortunately, the project was grounded in 2000 when further construction costs became unreachable.
The chicken-dove-church was vacated, and left to the forest.
Indonesia Dangerously Amazing
